Thalassaemia
is a hereditary blood condition. In general this inherited
blood condition presents itself as a carrier state (healthy)
or disease state (disorder). The disorder is a form of anaemia
that requires specialist care and management.
Who is at risk?
People
who are of Asian, Mediterranean, Middle-Eastern and African
origins are at 'risk' of Thalassaemia. Caucasian people are
also affected, but this is less common
