Following the
government's initiative to support those
individuals who have been unemployed for six
months to enter into the New Deal Option which
comprises of four initiatives of which one
includes working within the voluntary sector.
This option should assist participants to gain
work experience, personal development skills
and to work as part of a team in order to
prepare them for suitable paid employment.
The Project has
been very successful with the participants
recommended to us, and this has become evident
in the success of those that depart for
alternative employment or full time education.
The participants
provide us with an extra pair of invaluable
hands and also the opportunity for us to
provide training and experience. New deal
participants get involved in various tasks,
which include:
Receive adequate training on databases.
General administrative duties.
Process referrals for sickle cell &
thalassaemia.
Organising resources.
Supporting fundraising events.
Attending/assisting with the organisation of
exhibitions.
