New Deal Placements and Volunteers

Following the government's initiative to support those individuals who have been unemployed for six months to enter into the New Deal Option which comprises of four initiatives of which one includes working within the voluntary sector. This option should assist participants to gain work experience, personal development skills and to work as part of a team in order to prepare them for suitable paid employment.

The Project has been very successful with the participants recommended to us, and this has become evident in the success of those that depart for alternative employment or full time education.

The participants provide us with an extra pair of invaluable hands and also the opportunity for us to provide training and experience. New deal participants get involved in various tasks, which include:

Receive adequate training on databases.

General administrative duties.

Process referrals for sickle cell & thalassaemia.

Organising resources.

Supporting fundraising events.

Attending/assisting with the organisation of exhibitions.
