About Wellbeing with Gemma

I'm Gemma, an experienced Massage Therapist and owner of Wellbeing with Gemma.

I have been practicing Massage Therapy for eight years, having worked both independently, with corporates and in luxury spa environments. My approach is to work with clients on an individual basis, gaining an understanding of their personal circumstances, overall wellbeing and treatment objectives. I pride myself on a high standard of client care and dignity, ensuring that clients feel comfortable and relaxed, as people may often feel nervous or unsure of what to expect when first receiving massage treatment.

Beforehand you will be asked to complete a health questionnaire - please answer honestly as this information is confidential. If you are unsure or have any specific concerns please discuss these directly before your treatment. Please also advise of any allergies to ensure the correct oil is used. Please turn up to your treatment on time and wear loose, comfortable clothing. It is possible that there may be some oil transfer onto clothes so please bear this in mind when choosing what you wear.

You will then be given verbal instructions on what to wear during treatment and how to get on the massage couch and then given privacy whilst you prepare for your treatment.

During your massage you will be able to personalise the treatment by selecting your preferred pressure - and if unsure we will begin with a medium pressure and adjust accordingly. You will also be asked about any areas of tension or places you would like the treatment to focus on so that you can get the most from your treatment. If at any point it feels uncomfortable or you would like to tweak the pressure please don't be afraid to say - I won't be offended.

You may want to use the massage as an opportunity to relax and switch off - so don't worry if you'd prefer not to talk during the treatment. Equally, some people enjoy having a chat and offloading - often speaking more openly than they usually would. Whichever you prefer to do is fine and anything sensitive that is spoken about in the treatment remains confidential.

Once again after your treatment, you will have the privacy to get dressed and off the couch and given aftercare instructions. It is important that you follow the aftercare to avoid any discomfort afterward and ensure the treatment is effective. Generally, you should avoid alcohol, caffeine, or any strenuous activity and ensure you drink plenty of water to remove the build-up of any toxins in the body. It is normal to ache slightly afterward, particularly to begin with. However, this should disappear within a couple of days and you will then continue to feel the benefits.

If you have any questions or would like to speak to me privately beforehand please get in touch. I look forward to seeing you soon!
