We are pleased to share the NHS England Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia National Resource for Schools and Educators, developed to support children and students living with sickle cell and thalassaemia.

The resources were developed in collaboration with dedicated working groups for each condition, bringing together the expertise and lived experience of patients, parents, educators and healthcare professionals, alongside the NHS Technology Enhanced Learning team.

Accessing the resources

Please note: you will need to log in to the learning platform to access the resources. If you do not already have an account, you will need to create one before accessing the content.

The full resource includes:

  • Sickle Cell & Thalassaemia explainer animation (also uploaded on Youtube, for ease of access)

  • An interactive e-learning session focusing on practical guidance for schools and educators

  • Downloadable individualised care plan templates for each stage of education

Live webinars

They will also be hosting live webinars for each condition. These sessions will include an overview of the condition, a tour of the online resources and a live Q&A with guest speakers.

Anyone from your school can register if you’re able to join. There will also be a live question and answer session at the end of the training.

This does not take away from any support that you would like from us at the Sickle Cell & Thalassaemia Support Project.
