Loury Mooruth is a sickle cell patient and a board member of the Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia Support Project. Earlier this year, she became one of the first sickle cell patients in England to receive the new treatment Crizanlizumab.
Crizanlizumab can be taken along side hydroxycarbamine or on it's own. The purpose is to reduce the amount of sickle cell crisis for patients.
When initially hearing about the new treatment, Loury asked to be put forward. In this documentary, "Reborn", Loury shares her experiences with sickle cell and the new treatment.
