On Wednesday 4th October 2023, a handful of parents supported by the Sickle Cell & Thalassaemia Support Project took part in our Building Self Confidence and a Positive Mindset Workshop. The workshop took place at Bob Jones Community Hub in Wolverhampton and was facilitated by Raminder from Calm Behaviours.
Parenting is challenging irrespective of circumstances. When a child has a chronic health condition such as sickle cell or thalassaemia, it can cause a lot of worry and stress. Parents often find themselves managing health concerns and dealing with the emotional impact of their child's condition.
Raminder encouraged parents to discuss their challenges and their aspirations. Together, they delved into strategies for building self-confidence and nurturing a positive mindset. This workshop was a vital step towards aiding parents in supporting their children effectively while nurturing their own well-being.
"I enjoyed meeting everyone. Seeing how engaged it was and how we all participated. It was lovely"- Parent in Wolverhampton
"I learnt a lot. I learnt that self-talk is very important, it controls you. Positive thoughts make you feel happy and negative thoughts make you feel sad or angry"- Parent in Wolverhampton
Thank you to Raminder, Bob Jones Community Hub and the National Lottery Community Fund for making this workshop possible.
