On Sunday 14th June, The Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia Support Project joined Chris at WCR FM to mark Sickle Cell Awareness Day and shine a light on the realities of living with sickle cell and thalassaemia.

People supported by our project shared their experiences from the perspective of a patient, young person, parent and sibling, giving an honest insight into how these conditions can affect individuals and families.

While Sickle Cell Awareness Day is an important opportunity to start conversations, awareness is needed all year round. By listening to lived experiences, we can increase understanding, challenge misconceptions and ensure those affected feel seen and supported.

A huge thank you to everyone who shared their stories and to WCR FM for providing a platform for these important conversations.

The full podcast will be available on wcrfm.com soon.

If you or someone you know is affected by sickle cell or thalassaemia and lives in Wolverhampton, Walsall or Dudley and would like support, please get in touch.
