A new Infected Blood Psychological Service (IBPS) has been set up by NHS England to offer emotional and practical support to anyone infected or affected by contaminated blood or blood products between the 1970's and early 1990's.

People with sickle cell or thalassaemia who received blood transfusions during that time may have been impacted. This service provides psychological and social support, including help with housing, benefits and community services.
The Birmingham IBPS team includes psychologists (one with experience in sickle cell and thalassaemia care) and a social worker.
You can now self-refer online via the Infected Blood Psychological Service website or call 0300 303 6284 (Midlands regional centre)
